The online catalogue of the National Library contains the bibliographic records of the following types of documents:

• • monographic publications: books, dissertations, cartographic and graphic documents, video recordings and printed music
    • Bulgarian documents – from 1876 to the present day
    • documents in other languages, received in the library – from 1992 to the present day
  • periodicals
    • Bulgarian newspapers, magazines and newsletters from 1844 to the present day
    • foreign newspapers, magazines and newsletters from 1992 to the present day

People could search the online catalogue in three ways:

• • 1. Basic keyword search and option to limit the search by language and/or document type (use the * sign for cross-reference search).
    2. Advanced search by 27 items and the ability to limit the search by language and/or type of the document (use the * sign for cross-reference search).
    3. Expert search by all elements, indexed with prefixes and suffixes, using the logical operators(AND, OR, NOT) and the context operators (WITH, NEAR, SUBFIELD). The search could be limited by the type of the document.
