They donated books for the Charity Christmas Bazaar, organised by the library to raise funds for the purchase of Anoxia chamber.

Donations 2015

The National Library St. St. Cyril and Methodius received the book MILADIN KOLEV – ABOUT THE PAST BEFORE AND AFTER WORLD WAR II, TO ACT TODAY, HERE AND EVERYWHERE as a donation from Mrs. Maria Koleva, who owns the copyright and with her permission and at her request, we published the whole book HERE.

Donations 2010

On the 19th of March, 2010 the first book of the “Adopt a Book” donation programme was “adopted”.The programme was launched by the National Library in January of the same year.The students from the humanitarian profile of YoanEkzarh High school, Shumen were the first donors who responded to the idea, announced through Kultura newspaper. They wererepresented by the Director Mrs. Valentina Todorova. Thus they celebrated in a dignified and original way the 10th anniversary of their school.
The adopted book is a collection of works from the end of16th and the beginning of 17th century, containing 7 separate publications, including one early Ukrainian rhyming poem (lament). The book was restored  sheet by sheet.The original binding was preserved separately.

Donations 2009 г.

On the 19th ofJune, 2009(Friday) in the Conference Hall of the National Library St. St. Cyril and Methodius official delegation from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, led by the Chief Secretary Mrs. Katina Chernaeva, donated information materials – books, films, brochures, safety training materials, etc. in Bulgarian and in English,and in Braille. The meeting marked the beginning of mutual cooperation and future joint activities.

On the 16th ofJune, 2009(Tuesday)  in the Conference Hall of the National Library St. St. Cyril and Methodius His Excellency Geoffrey Keating, Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland, donated to the National Library collections Poetry CDs by Seamus Heaney – an Irish poet, Nobel Prize winner in Literature for 1995.His Excellency also presented the Irish writer Deirdre Madden, who donated her book “Authenticity” translated into Bulgarian and in the original.

On the 22 ofMay, 2009(Friday)in the Conference Hall of the National Library St. St. Cyril and Methodius Her ExcellencyMrs. RushdaTavaravei, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, donated books and audio-visual materials. The event was opened by Asst. Prof AnetaDoncheva, who gave a Certificate of appreciation to her Excellency and the album “Bulgaria”.
The meeting was attended by Mr. KitinuddaSuksawade Na Ayudthaya, Second Secretary of the Embassy and Mr. Viktor Melamed, Honorary Consul of the Embassy of Thailand in Bulgaria

On the 24th ofMarch, 2009 (Tuesday) in the Conference Hall of the National Library St. St. Cyril and Methodius in an official ceremony Mr. AleksandarAbadzhiev donated some of his books.The donation contained biographies on famous Bulgarian musicians – Nikolay Gyaurov, VasilArnaudov, Sasha Popov and others. The event was opened by Prof.BoryanaHristova – Director of the National Library, who awarded a Certificate of appreciation to the donor. Mrs. NadezhdaZaharieva, Deputy Minister, delivered congratulatory remarks on behalf of the Ministry of Culture.

On the 3th ofFebruary, 2009 (Tuesday) in the Conference Hall of the National Libraryover 150 volumes of books by Macedonian authors, donated by the Cultural and Information Centre of the Republic of Macedonia were received in the presence of Her Excellency Mrs. YadrankaDimova, charge d’affaires ad interim and Mrs. DostaDimovska, Director of the Centre.

Donations 2008 г.

On the 5th ofDecember, 2008 in the Conference Hall of the National Library St. St. Cyril and Methodius in an official ceremony was announced the donation of Stefan Gruev’s archives. This donation was handed over to the Bulgarian National Archives of the National Library thanks to the Foundation Free and Democratic Bulgaria, chaired by DimitarPanitza. The donation containedvarious materials from the 1940s to the 1990s – manuscripts, photographs, correspondence etc. in Bulgarian, English, German and French. It contained also many valuable documents, related to the writing of Gruev’s famous books – Manhattan Project: The Untold Story of the Making of the Atomic Bomb and Crown of Thorns.

On the 13th of March, 2008 the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden handed over the facsimile copy of the “Silver Bible” (Codex Argentum) as a donation to theNational Library St. St. Cyril and Methodius. The Swedish government institutions had chosen the National Library as the best place to store the copy of the valuable document. The Bible’s translation from Gothic was made by archbishop Ulfilas, who lived in the Bulgarian lands during the 4th century AD.
